Max Kinateder

I am an Adjunct Research Professor at Carleton University. Before that, I was a postdoctoral fellow at Brown University, working in Professor Bill Warren's VENLab.

In my research, I explore how behavior is guided by the social and architectural environment in emergencies. I am interested in human behavior in emergency situations, such as evacuation behavior, as well as basic and applied research in vision science (e.g., low vision, and AR vision aids). The overall aim of my work is to contribute to a better understanding of perception and action in complex situations. For most of my studies, I use immersive virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR) to simulate complex scenarios with a high level of experimental control.
